Surplus cherry tomatoes

    Vodka tomatoes
    Prick cherry tomatoes with a toothpick, put them in Vodka, add a few other nice things, e.g. tabasco, worcestershire sauce, celery salt. Drum fingers impatiently for 24 hours. Eat tomatoes.

    Roast tomatoes
    Looks neat if they're still on the vine. Drizzle with oil and maybe a little balsamic. Put in hot oven. Take out of hot oven. Enjoy. (Goes nicely with roast cod which has a remarkably similar recipe except omit the balsamic and you don't get cod on a vine)

      In addition to following my own advice, I still had a surplus. The obvious thing, as I should have said immediately, is to give them to friends and neighbours.

      I'm not really one for warm, fuzzy feelings but the enjoyment of giving away a handful of cherry tomatoes here and there is immense.
