I'm in the process of making the GYO (April issue) Rhubarb and Ginger jam.
It tells me to put the ginger in a muslin bag during cooking then take it out and chuck - I don't have a muslin bag or anything closely resembling one - could I
a) just chuck in chunk of ginger and remove at end
b) use an enclosed spoon-type tea strainer

Can't see how a lump of ginger will really cause a problem piskie, unless like me you don't like eating the stuff!
