  • What to do with apples?

I've heaps of windfall apples and pears from my copses and not sure what to do with them.
They're not good enough to give away.
I'm not much of a drinker and anyway have no press or fermenting equipment so cider's probably out.
My freezers are already stuffed full.

    Ideas?

You can make a sort of apple jam out of them, which I use a bit like marmalade. Also if you have a cheap enough heat source pulping them down and turning them into a fruit leather is possible.

Jam, jelly, chutney (See if your library has beryl wood book, lots of recipes!)
I personally rather like apple and ginger jelly.

Do you have any kilner type jars? If so, you can bottle apple puree to use in crumbles over the winter.
Dried chunks for snacks are another option if you have a suitably cheap heat source

Cook them into pies, tarts and crumbles (easier to give away, or invite friends round to share).
Freshly squeezed juice is lovely too, but like you I don’t have the kit to make it.

      After that, compost???

I was just looking at Apple recipes,I’m making a cake but it doesn’t need that many apples unless you like cakes a lot
