well folks, if you were nearer, then I'd be more than delighted to share these apples with you all. This part of scotland is famous for fruit (apples pears, plums, damsons, berries) - think it is due to the warm (ish) wet weather.

anyways, nuff bout all that - it doesnt help with the apple mountain. have now made apple cheese (NEVER again); apple, bramble and lemon curd (deff doing again - serously yummy); and currently have spiced apple jelly on the go.

tomorrow planning apple and elder berry chutney......time will tell. and probably and apple and beetroot chutney.

anything left, i shall chuck under the bushes for the blackbirds -brilliant suggestion - thanks

If you have room in your freezer- stick a bagful of whole ones in for the birds for during the frosty part of he winter/spring.

I have made bitter apple preserve with lemon init a little like an apple marmalade! Also add them to soups, parsnip and apple, tomato and apple, an add a lovely tartness or sweetness depending on the type.

or pasteurize and save freezer space

I've got some up stairs in a spare bedroom in those cardboard boxes greengrocers get their apples delivered in, and for Worcester permains that aren't supposed to keep well these still taste fine.
