PEAR AND VANILLA JAM...unbelievably good.
4oz pears peeled, cored, cut into chunky slices
jiuce of 2 lemons
1lb 10oz sugar
1 vanilla pod
pears in bowl with lemon juice
sprinkle over sugar and add 200 ml water
slice vanilla pod and scrape out seeds, Mix in the seeds and tuck in the pods
COVER THE BOWL OVERNIGHT FOR THE SUGAR TO SOAK EVERYTHING UP
Next day, pour contents into a preserving pan and stir!! on a low heat until sugar has dissolved. Turn up the heat rapidly until you have reached setting point. The pear pieces should be transculent, You should now take out the pod pieces.
Transfer into hot sterilized jars (3 x 1lb jars should do).
Thanks for the recipe, sounds nice, but wanted to double check its only 4oz of pears? if so, it must be very sweet?!
Thanks

Any good recipes for preserving pears?
Hi all
The title says it.
I got some gorgeous little pears from a harvest festival the other day, and I wanted to do some pear preserves, but cant really find a good one or two online.
Maybe a pickle or jam??
Can anyone share a good tried and tested one please?
