  • Damson wine

My husband makes a brill damson wine from our crop in the garden, the tree must be all of 50 years old and this year had the best crop for years. Messy job tho. but my young son loved that bit!

It was a really good year for fruit wasn't it?
I got lots of cherry plums, sloes and elders. The damson trees were all too tall for me though.

I have been given approx 20lb of damsons, some ripe some half ripe and some green, Can I use these to make wine ?. Or if I store them a few days would they ripen ?

I haven't made wine for years and I think this year is the year to get the home brew gear out of the attic.
