Blackcurrant Leaf Cordial

I'm going to have a bash at making this as we have inherited some blackcurrant bushes with deliciously fragrant leaves. I have a couple of recipes but not sure really when I should pick the leaves. Don't fancy doing now whilst blossom/fruit setting. Any ideas?
