If I wanted to add vanilla flavouring which should I use, or does it matter with pod/extract etc.

If going for the convenient option, always get extract (natural), not essence (synthetic).
But that's where my knowledge ends

I use extract for ease of use.
It comes in a liquid or paste form. Both pretty expensive but the flavour is far superior to essence.
Go for a popular make so you know the quality is guaranteed.

I absolutely adore vanilla…what are you going to make?…just the thought of it is making me hungry

By and large, essence is synthetic, extract is less-processed than essence and natural but expensive, pods are natural but work out very expensive in my experience (delicious flavour, mind).

I agree with others about not using essence. Depending on what you want to use it for, if you decided to buy a pod remember that you can always put the pod, once you've scraped out the seeds, into a jar of sugar making a lovely vanilla sugar to use in the future.

It's for flavouring with my blackcurrants . I used extract in my chia jam. Thinking about the gin.
