  • givin' it a go!

Hi all, am wanting to have a go at this home brewing malarky but would like advice on what to attempt first, also i will need to buy kit so something that is not to expensive utensil wise would be great.
    Need your wisdom desperately!

You could try freecycle or have you a charity shop nearby, some of the 'less posh' ones often have demijohns. Or ask around, I often see demijohns sitting in peoples garages.

      Hello Raine,

Shirlthegirl43 is one of our wine making experts and has posted some good information HERE

Wine making, in my opinion is great fun and can save loads of money. If you can, get a hold of CJJ Berry's book - do. As some have said, it is a bit old fashioned and the wine can come out a bit sweet but there is a lot of good information in there.

      Have fun.

If you want your wine drier, use a bag(1 kilo or 2 .25 lbs,or whatever the conversion is),rather than the 3lb Mr Berry usually recommends. This also helps with fermentation I've found.

Make sure you drink/try plenty so you get to know what you like/don't like

I'm sure half the fun is in the trying.
