Does any one know what happened to the second heat wave we were threatened with. It keeps threatening to rain but so far no dice. Forecasts seem very hit and miss. Has anyone any theories on whether we will have another cold winter. My plot was frozen solid for most of January and still warming up even after Easter.

Sunny and warm today. Only one little shower. Do I live in a microclimate?

Well I have no idea what the weather is doing. Long range forecast is for a very wet winter (Yuk!) This weekend they are forecasting near galeforce off shore - which isn't very far from here although the Isle of Wight is in the way!!

No sign of gales yet and autumn seems to have arrived early
Shall plod on and try and take things as they come. Here's hoping the toms on the lottie ripen although I do have a very good green tom chutney recipe. Toms on the patio are doing fine.

OK spoke too soon. By yesterday afternoon it was blowing a hoolie and persisting.

One plus point I now have a lot of windfall pears so don't have to strain too much more with the fruit picker thingy. No damage on lottie fortunately and everything still seems quite happy.

Weather has been lovely this last week. Frost has been reported in East Sussex and Cornwall but not here. We have had heavy dews and some condensation on the inside of the mini greenhouse roof and it feels decidedly cooler and autumnal in the mornings.

Forecast is for this to continue. No complaints then.

Quite chilly and autumnal this morning after a lovely sunny day yesterday. Heavy dew and condensation on the inside of the "open" growhouse. Had to use the heater to clear the windscreen and rear window of the car. Brrrr!!!

Have had a glorious , very warm few days but chillier in the evenings and at night. Heavy dews morning and evening. Drizzling this morning but trying to clear. Forecast for the next few days is not good with very wet nights and variable, changeable days.

Still picking courgettes. Blight has finally arrived.

Very wet and wild yesterday. Lots of heavy showers have no idea how strong the wind was. Less windy today but still lots of heavy showers, quite mild.

Sun still trying its best when it can.

Had a glorious day yesterday, managed to dry laundry outside. The sun was actually very warm and there was a bit of a breeze but we had started the day with condensation on the windows and it ended quite chilly with a fab gibbous moon in the sky.

Some possibilities of ground frost in rural areas tonight. Hopefully not here in town but I've added extra straw to the guinea pig hutch just in case.

Very chilly this am, breath visible. Only 7C in the growhouse (fleece cover) by 0845 on a sunny day. No ground frost yet but forecast says it's on its way.

Default Note to self

At 10.00 pm when we moved the 8 week old guinea pigs inside it was 0C in the growhouse even with fleece closed most of the day. Looks like it may crisp up tonight. The little guys were quite cool and very quite but have now perked up. Looks like hypothermia was averted just in time. Mr E had instructions to pick the courgettes on the last plant. They may be some on the lottie but I think they may have now had it.

Hi Earthbabe, I'm in East Anglia and I can't quite believe how cold it feels. I think the main problem is it's changed so much so quickly. No frost here yet, but it really feels cold. I've just realised I've got a couple of fuchsia plants on the patio, and it's too late and dark to go and rescue them (I'm just going to have to cross my fingers)

It's here. :eek Thin layer of frost on cars this morning. Came out to find my neighbour up and out before me scraping his. He very kindly gave me a lift to work. Only 50 minutes early!

Default Mist and Fog

Woke today to a blanket of mist and fog so as well as being chilly (although warmer than the last few days) it is damp

Visibility for us not too bad but it is apparently really thick in parts of Hampshire and Dorset.

Bit of a shock to go out to scrape the car this am, apparently more frost due overnight.

Weather has been a bit mixed. Windy, wet, chilly. Light frost yesterday morning and much heavier this am. The shed roof was completely white. Thanks goodness I remembered the rabbit's HWB yesterday. Might try and coax Miss E onto a bus today to go out as yesterday we slobbed around even though it was reasonably mild.

Default Bbbbrrrrrrr!!!!

After a gorgeous weekend more reminiscent of late spring it has turned chilly. We had a light frost on the windscreen this am and more is forecast. Will have to go and cover up plants on the lottie as I think I forgot to re-cover the lettuce on saturday. Oops!

Even colder today. Roxie spent most of the day in her bedroom area, emerging only for the obvious and food. Also obvious for a rabbit. I didn't even attempt to put her out. I value my arms too much. Hope it warms up a bit for the weekend.
