    What happened to flaming June.
Or is that flaming useless June.

It's been grey and chilly all week in Northumberland and my poor tomatoes in the greenhouse are getting just a bit pee'd off! Three of them have got a couple of purple leaves Previous weeks have been lovely but this week has been positively cold - our flat is freezing!

Supposed to pick up from tomorrow. It had better! I've got beans and stuff getting bigger by the day and I want them in the ground!

I work near Preston and agree it's been lovely in the day. Am surprised it's going so low at night though as we've been staying in double figures.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Here in Cheshire we go down to 8 degrees at night, not brilliant either. During the day is nice and hot though. Runner beans are doing fine outside, they are outgrowing the slugs now! Tomatoes and peppers are in the greenhouse so, they should be ok.

Planting out of all the tender stuff is 3 weeks behind usual here.

The climbing beans are planted out but struggling, think I'll put a few more seeds in along the rows - the rest is overflowing the greenhouse.

It's been 10ish most nights, but the days haven't been much warmer all week, cos of that N wind. Light levels have been low as well

Forecast looks a bit better from Sunday so I'm aiming to get everything planted next week - hope the weather for the rest of the year is better than this week has been, or It will be Brassicas and not much else this year.

I've just been watching the more detailed weather forecast that is on in the early hours and it looks like the jet stream will be dragging hot but possibly thundery weather up from the continent from the beginning of next week.

It's been a bit stormy here, the wind has broken a couple of potato stems & some of my brussels sprouts are looking a mess I did put a blanket shield over part of the cage, should of wrapped the whole thing (garden! ) I brought a couple more tomato plants indoors,it's like a jungle in here again, its calmer today but cold & no sunshine. My runner beans are getting tall on the windowsill,I'm going to put them outside on a tray for a bit,get them used to our English summertime!

The ground sensor is about 3 to 4 inch off the ground.
It's a spike that measures air and soil temperatures.
I also have a sensor on the greenhouse outside on the gutter at about 4 feet.
                      Min reading were.

11 degrees today blooming cold! This week has been the worst I can remember all year. It was warmer back in December than this. I am sitting here typing with fingerless gloves and a poncho on

But good news because it is supposed to warm up significantly from tomorrow. 21 predicted according to BBC for tomorrow - much warmer! Sunday and Monday looking good too. Most plants seem to be holding up OK both ones planted outside and those in PT. Only one that is looking a wee bit sad is the cucumber in the PT. Strawbs and tomatoes still flowering and doing good. If we get some sun there might even be some more strawbs to eat soon
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

This has been the best start for June that we have had in this area for many years, just hope it continues
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

12.9 degrees here today (London South East / Surrey) much better than the 10.5 with winds and chill factor that we had a couple of days ago. 18-16 in the greenhouse from top to bottom according to the BBC 22 Saturday and 24 Sunday with it remaining in the 20-22 until next Sunday when it starts to drop again.

In general over the last few days the east has been cloudy and cold with a biting northerly wind, but with temperatures holding up ok at night because of the cloud. In contrast the west has had beautiful sunny days but because of the lack of cloud it has got rather colder at night. Nights to particularly watch for are those where the sky is clear and the wind is light, when the cold air sinks to the ground because there is no wind to stir it up.

Its a slightly odd situation just now because the upper air temperatures are a good 10 degrees above where they should be, but down on the ground its probably about 10 degrees below where it should be in the cloudy areas during daytime.

                              Go figure!
