Sorry, fresh peas taste nothing like the tinned ones thank goodness.

The peas I think you'd like then are the more floury types, and yes you've plenty of time to still grow and yes in buckets is fine, try using an inverted obelisk to grow them up in the bucket.

I'm growing the Leo Dried peas you buy in a packet, for making mushy peas. I don't actually like mushy peas but I started the plants off for pea shoots and now they're flowering, so I'll see what happens next.

You can get marrowfat and garden peas in tins. Which ones do you like? They are completely different in flavour and texture.

I think the type of pea you are looking for is marrowfat and a good variety is Maro from Mr Fothergills. You can grow them in the big green buckets (don't forget to cut holes in the bottom) now if you hurry. Good compost and a plastic cover should there be a chance of late frosts.

Was looking to grow them and eat them fresh (if poss).
How many can i plant in one of them buckets?
Couldn't i just use canes rather than buy one of them obelisk?
How big do they grow? or Can they be pruned to the size i want to keep them at?

I've 6 or do per Morrison bucket, 2canes and plastic mesh in a circle up the canes.. Ill take a photo in a bit when I go out to empty my compost bin to get rid of the mouse that's in there!

tinned peas usually have sugar added to them, so you may not get the same flavour without adding some to the saucepan when cooking your own home grown ones.

Looked at that Mr Fothergills and i'm going to go for
Peas Ambassador AGM (round-seeded variety)
and
Pea (Marrowfat) Maro (round-seeded)

and going to grow about 3 of each in 2 buckets.
Do i need to propogate or cans they go straight into buckets?
