  • Do you talk to your plants?

I do sometimes, but its more to do with me needing to talk out loud about things that I couldn't possibly share with anyone else, even Grapes.

I hear that accent makes a difference and the Scouse accent is most effective for plant growth

If I ever feel like cussing someone (no name mentioned) I vocalise. When (no name mentioned) says 'are you talking to me' I reply 'of course not sweetie - just talking to the plants'.

My mother used to have a cheese plant next to the phone - she said that when you spoke on the phone/to the plant your co2 exhaled was good for it. I didn't really believe it, but it did grow massive, compared to theother one in the house.

When I plant them. I have a planting mantra, when I heel a shrub or biggish perennial into its hole I say "Grow, you b*ggar!" And they do!
I've even got one of my friends from the village In Bloom group saying it now!

I try and do sort of group encouragement in the polytunnel, usually just something like "everybody grow!" in a happy voice.

I remember reading back in the 70's that some Canadian scientists tried playing music to their plants and found(allegedly) that they responded better to classical music then to heavy metal. Maybe I should get my bagpipes out and see what that does for the plants. I'm pretty sure I know how the neighbours will respond.

Nothing wrong with the bagpipes - they might do wonders!

Yes! Quite like I'd talk to a dog to be honest or I just chat to them!
