    i pulled 1 plant of my main crop spuds yesterday. i was amazed by how many and how big they were. ive grown stemster and under 1 plant was over 5lb of s huge spuds. had some in jackets yest and some more roastesd today and they were magnificent.

    also pulled a gladiator parsnip and some purple haze carrots

    I've dug some Vivaldi, grown as second earlies, which we had today, first time I've grown this variety but will definately grow them again the flavour was great and a good crop per plant.

      Yes, Kestrels are all dug up [we've been eating them for about a month now, first as earlies then as main] and the Amorsas are also up - huge red potatoes, no slug damage. Lovely as jackets. Yum.

        Yep we had to harvest because of leaf stem blight, pots are okay but we now have at least 70lb of spuds and we are (well OH will be) in the next 30 minutes going to be cooking Arran Victory and mashing yeehaw

            Yep dig up a bucket of Kestral the other week....they were a good size as well.

              Yep i dug some Mayan Queen last week and this week dug some King Edwards both varietys delicious yum yum...jacob

                I've got Belle de Fontenay in buckets, had a furtle and there seem to be some good sized ones there.

                Had loads of Smile (2nd early), but ate the last this week

                  Have eaten all of the Kestrel and half of the Nicola - both good crops. Will wait another month before lifting the mains - Desiree, Romano and Picasso. It'll be interesting to see how different the flavours are and how each is best used.

                    I lifted some Harmony yesterday - they were massive and seemed to be quite plentiful. Not tried them yet but gave some to a couple of neighbours - I'm sure I'll get the results of the Taste Test soon.

                        I dug the last of my second earlies yesterday (mostly Kestrel) as I have some blight or is it scab - or both! Couldn't face the maincrop (3 x 10' rows) - too hot for that sort of work -and it felt too early. But if others are going down that route I'm off up to the lottie now! Well maybe tomorrow night - a bit wet now.

                          Lifted both Romano and Picasso this week since the foliage was looking a bit manky. Both had scab so only a few to keep. Romano very like Desiree, good for just about everything. Picasso tasteless boiled or steamed but very good sauteed after parboiling.

                            I've got some Maris Piper main crop on my small plot, will it be too early to lift them? I was planning to leave them until the end of Sept/beginning of Oct.

                              I furtled around my picassos today due to blight worries, and found the enclosed; superb when baked this evening.

                              If you are digging then I might just cut them down for safety. I will be happy if they are all like this.

                              BUT they have had nowhere near enough time in the ground - say 14 weeks - is this normal? I have not grown these before so have no idea.
