I want to build a web site for our allotment society and have a budget of 6 old pence.

can anybody point me to a site where I can build said web site at no cost. I doesnt have to be all singing all dancing, basic stuff will do.

Can any of you IT Spods help???

There are various places which will host a 'free' site for you, hotmail, AOL to name but two but..... there is a price!

    Adverts

If you don't want to pay for hosting via whoever (can't think of the proper name at the mo - easily.com? - which will cost between 20-and 40 a year depending on the space you want), then you have to be prepare to accept the trade off of pop-ups and adverts on the pages you design.

I believe that hotmail will give you limited space (a few Meg...) without adverts but this is generally something I leave to TOH, who reckons to pay.

    Sorry
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

www.Geocities.com is fairly popular but it is advert paid for, so as TP says you will have to put up with these.

Blogspot can be made into a web site too but limited, depends what you want on it but at least with your blog you're used to using it.

Hi The best is defently Moonfruit.com. I have used this for a website I built for my wife. Its free and all done online without any web design knowledge needed. If you require any help please let me know as I am a graphic designer by trade and would be pleased to help. Free of charge of course

          Try www.communitykit.co.uk
It's free for non-profit organisations. I run one for our village and one for the local Natural History Society. The software is dead easy to use. If you choose it I can help if you're stuck. Trust me (I'm not a doctor!) I'm no techie but you can upload pics, etc. It's sponsored by BT and advertises (though quite discreetly) its paid-for services for companies.

          Check it out.

Microsoft have a free website creation facility which is really easy to use. the address is:

            http://www.office.microsoft.com/en-g...e/default.aspx

I have created my own website using this.

Piglet, I did my association site using Microsoft stuff.
I uploaded it on my old dialup ISP, which allowed free hosting.

If you are on BT Internet then you could create a sub-account with a suitable name and then logged in as that sub-account then navigate to http://uk.geocities.yahoo.com/ where they will give you a free web space with tools to build your site. Check out my association site at http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/bsaga/index.htm
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.
