they like to be rubbed with a toothbrush, instead of your hands, cause that makes them feel more secure - also saves your fingers!!

Good luck with him, i like his name x

post a pic new bud, as I have no idea what one looks like. I have an image of a hamster and the terminator merged as one!
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

As a little brother, I had to endure such contempt, big sisters are so devious.

I'm guessing an electric toothbrush will have him weak at the knees?

                  Roborovski Hamsters

and a couple of others, apparently they like the company of other hamsters, which is unusual.

Is that what was called a Russian hamster??
I used to breed the Syrian ones when the kids were young- before we moved onto bunnies.
I recall the russian ones are more likely to nip than the syrian ones- but with loads and loads of handling from an early age you should be fine.
Mine used to be handled by the kids- esp when watching TV- they used to get them running from one hand to the other non-stop, and they loved that.

Oh- I've just read they don't like to be handled much..now I see the need for the toothbrush!!
                    Hope you really enjoy him!!

                    Love the name

I have a separate den attatched to the side of the cage (its a habitrail cage so I can get loads of extensions) and because its all hard he just sleeps on top of the bedding instead of burrowing i think its cause it allready feels burrowed you know. anyway, sooooooooooo cute! especially as hes only 2 inches long! I took a picture. Ill post it

you've not met my cat he's a bit psychotically obsessed with anything small and furry, ...... he even ripped all the ears off his fluffy mice..... i'm just waiting for him to discover the baby goldfish, he's dived in the pond more than once to try catching the big ones.
