  • It REALLY does pay to grow your own Grapes

Spotted this in the Mail today....

Bunch of 'rare' grapes sells for £465 in Japanese fruit auction | Mail Online

Nice little earner for the vineyard - boy they'd better be good!

    Also this incredible plant

Pictured: The rare plant that towers over owner's house after Britain's barmy weather causes it to grow 25ft in 'a few weeks' | Mail Online

Must be something in the water - or too much of it.

Fantastic. I've always wanted a vine or three, this might be just what it takes to persuade OH that it's worth having a go, even in sunny Yorkshire.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

S*d the grapevines, I'm going for homebrew Tequila
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

According to other threads there are at least three others growing their own grapes .

I want to get into growing vines on my plot. We have one at the house and made six and a bit bottles of wine from it......very, very yummy hic
It's my plan for '09, not sure how many vines I will get, maybe six or eight- I don't want to many. It is a windy site so I am a little worried, but it is free draining and on the side of a hill, it gets baked in the sun, if you can remember what that is....? yellow orb in the sky I seem to recall.
