  • B****y dog!

Ive arrived home after a looong day at work, and im not feeling too good as it is and while i know she didnt mean it, she lunged at me all 8 stone of her claws out front and managed to scratch big tram lines down both of my cheeks and split my lip!
Great! got some explaining to do in work tomorrow when i stand in front of my 40 staff!
    Arrghh

But THAT's how excited she was to see you! At times like that, a bit of studied indifference might have been better! Hope it heals up ok.

There's nothing like doggy love is there Madmax gets a wonderful welcome from our dog every evening - fortunately ours is only 6 inches tall so can't get you in the face unless you crouch down.

Hope you heal up quickly. A dab of olive oil is good for keeping scabs soft so they don't crack.

blue 411, my German Shepherd could quite easily inflict this sort of damage too. She get's sooo silly after she's been left even for 10 minutes. My solution has been to turn my back on her, immediately she comes bounding towards me. This takes the wind out of her sails, and I only turn round to face her when she's sitting down. It took a little while for her to get the 'sit' bit right, but now she sits down straight away and waits for me to come down to her level to give her a fuss, no jumping or shoving involved! Helped to keep a packet of Schmackos in the porch as a reward for the sitting down bit.

For your scratches - if they're red & inflamed, try hemaeroid (sp?) cream. Sounds disgusting maybe, but it takes out the redness & swelling really quickly (good for spots too )

A similar thing happened to my sister when we were younger. A friend of my Dad's had a huge great Bull Mastiff - she was as daft as a brush, and the biggest softee of a dog I ever knew. Anyway, sister was in the back of the VW camper that my Dad's friend owned along with Sasha (Mastiff). Sasha just stuck her paw out and it scratched my sisters face by accident (I was there). Sister ran off screaming and poor Sasha was beside herself - whining and whimpering. I felt more sorry for my Sasha than I did my sister.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope your face heals soon. My cats Ramsey and Crosby wake me up in a morning by patting my face with their paws, but sometimes they forget and catch my face with their claws! It certainly wakes me up, but my scars are small ones. Bernie aka DDL
