  • Penwortham New Allotment, yay

Well I got married this August to my Feller of the past 11 years

As my disabled mum went into care we are having to move out our adapted house to move into a flat (if we can find one) so loosing my lovely big garden

I put myself down for an allotment so I would not loose all my plants (Some I started growing as a kid and some were hard to find plus gardening is the best after work stress relief) and I got a 1/2 plot last week

Its a good size and should be plenty big enough for all my plants with room for a few extra veg. Only going to miss my apple, pear, gooseberry, blackberry and redcurrant

Bonus though the plot already has an 2 apples, 1 pear, 2 Victoria plums, raspberries and rhubarb yay

Just got to get all the weeding done fast so that I can move stuff over as we don't know when we will find somewhere

    Nice one Cat. Welcome!

I'm sure that getting the plot going will help ease the move out of your old place. Is it badly overgrown or just a few weeks of weed growth to get out?

Hello and welcome to the vine Cat
If I was you I'd dig up those gooseberry, blackberry and redcurrant bushes and plant them on the allotment, failing that take cuttings not sure if its the right time of the year but I'd still give it a go.

Hello Cat and welcome. Your new plot sounds ideal. As Bren ^^^ says, either dig up the fruit bushes you want to move or take cuttings. You may find some rooted tips of your blackberry that can be cut off and gooseberry and redcurrants grow easily from cuttings

                    This makes me so upset.

You were allowed to keep the house when there were two of you in it (two women), but now that you're a man & a wife, you have to move to a flat with no garden.

That flat won't be any cheaper than the house, so the Govt won't save any money.

Also, the people who move into your house will have to take out all the adaptations (at further expense to the taxpayer), and they'll most likely not use your garden either, or pave it over for parking.

then, if you and your husband have a child, you'll need to be rehoused, back into a house with a garden.
