Default Seed Dispenser

Has anybody heard of or seen a product for sowing seeds ie radish lettuce type etc. This is a syringe type of product. I have seen it advertised but for the life of me cannot remember where.

Hi Floreal and welcome to the Vine!

I think I know what you mean, and I THINK they are sold in Wilko. THe one I'm thinking of is a round dish with a funnel at one end, then the top is perspex and fits on top of the dish like a lid BUT with various sized holes in the side so you can line up the correct size hole for your size of seed.

Fill the dish with the seed and put the lid on, rotate till correct size hole is lined up with the funnel and gently dribble seeds into the drill. I used to have one, but think it went the way of all flesh some years ago.

I just pour the seed into my palm and sow pinch at a time. THat is probably why I sow far too thickly.........perhaps I should get one too!

...or you can use a vinegar bottle or 1-holed salt cellar - mix the seed with sand and pour along the seed drill.

Doesn't work for massive seeds tho as they get stuck in the 'ole!

I like the salt cellar idea, will have to try that next year since I definitely oversowed this year!
