Default where are we all going on holiday this year?

We have been given my parents house for two weeks in the lake district whilst they go on holiday. Beats camping in the pouring rain in Cornwall like last year(and don't forget the being stuck in traffic thing!)

Few days shortly in Ireland - The Burren. Going with some naturalist friends for the flowers and birds. Might even get a trip to Craggy Island!

Ive been a bit spoilt recently, went to New york in feb 2006, Feb 2007 and also went to Las Vegas in 2007, went to New York again in Feb this year and we were going to go back to Las Vegas again but its my dads 50th in 2009 so we thought we give Las Vegas a miss this year seeing as we are going next year. Going to Cornwall for a week in June and OH wants to go back to New york again in October, got a bit of a thing for the big apple, as you may of guessed, and for those interested, check out this web site EarthCam - Webcam Network and go to NYC and check out camera No4, ive been on that camera!!!

We're off to Hemsby this year in the caravan. At least if its raining this year, we don't have to get the tent up before we can have a cuppa.

We are off to near Perpignan in South of France at the end of June.
I am excited as it is where I used to live and not been for 12 years!
I am not excited as feeling v anxious about all my plants and chickens when I go away.
I am also not excited as got to take loopy 3 yr old and grumpy 10 month old (have heard you are not allowed to leave them home alone for a week and Grandma wasn't keen to have them this long )

I have never in my life been "on holiday". I've had a couple of college trips to places, but they have been for mad dashes round museums, not chilling out.

Mr Sheds' brother lives in the Far East, and we have been invited out for 2 weeks in Sept. I am really looking fwd to it. I just need to print up some little laminate cards that say "no fish, no meat" in the local dialects! Even English people have strange ideas of what constitutes vegetarian food.

Kefalonia for my husband's 50th. I had my 50th three years ago and we are going to the same hotel. Cant wait. Just very worried about leaving the allotment in the hands of MiL as we have far more in the plot this year than last and if it is as dry next month as it has been this month then she will have her hands full.

We were planning a family trip back to Malta, where we had our honeymoon 10 years ago, but it was a tad expensive so I persuaded Mrs Doc to wait till next year, and we'd save up a bit.

Next thing I knew she'd booked a week in Britanny to get over the disappointment!

Either we'll rent a house between both of our parent's houses (like last year) or else back to Southern France (around Biarritz) like the year before. At the moment, France is winning as we both want a bit of sun, but can't do baking.

We're going camping on the Ile De Re, just of the Atlantic coast in France. Hopefully better weather this year after last years terrible summer!

I am having trouble booking time off work, as I only work one night a week you would think it would be easy, but every request I have put in has been denied. I have managed to book next years holiday even tho we dont know if my OH can take the same weeks as he is changing his job next month I have been told I can change it !!! yeah right !!!
I want to change my job but dont know what I want to do, I looked after my sister doing her housework for 18 months last year before she died of cancer and have been taking some time out, but kept my job open by working one night a week, have been there 9 years, time for a change too much hassle now, only a number not a person.
I dont have any qualifications and left school aged 15, not good with computers.
Still need to take time out during school holidays as not ready to leave 12 year old daughter for long periods just yet.
Any suggestions ????
Holidays usually end up camping in North Devon Cornwall area keep saying we will go camping in France but never get there.

LadyWayne, myself and about 6-7 friends have a villa in Tuscany booked for two weeks in September - really looking forward to it, it looks gorgeous (well, we think so):

Looking forward to waking up to this view every morning:

I'm a bit nervous about my plot though, so I might set up a plot-cam whilst I'm away.

Hopefully Rome in July (a friends 60th) and a cruise round the Med in November .

I also need to go to Cumbria to see the family at some time and odd weekends visiting friends. Oh, and I crew for a friend some weekends as he has a canal boat and his wife can no longer steer the boat nor do the locks.

French house

But...I do think I should insist to myself that it will not be a working holiday!

Problem is that when you know a lot of the locals are likely to pop in at any minute for a drink and a natter , I'm a lot less willing to have a lie in in the mornings nor display the flab to the sun ( hopefully) in a way I'd not be bother about if I were somewhere where no-one else would ever see me again!
