  • What other hobbies do you have?

My other main hobby is amateur radio. I am married to Linda and we are both licensed. I hold the callsign G0VGS and am active on voice and Morse code when time allows.

I also play guitar and have done since 1973. For the last few years I have been learning to play blues and jazz more. Just for me as the OH does not want me going back into entertainment

I collect enamel badges Of the National Union of Mineworkers(NUM)
I have over 500 when I started I could get a badge for £3 a couple of weeks ago I had to pay £8.
I am interested in other trade union badges so I can exchange them(with other collectors) for NUM badges
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Good heavens! How many badges can there be for the NUM? I never thought there could be that many

My most important hobby is my dog! Reading is in there somewhere (fiction, mostly with loads of action) and visiting NGS gardens with my camera. I also visit the Hawk Conservancy as often as I can (but avoid weekends and school holidays).
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

What an excellent idea for a thread!
Dexter is my other main hobby, but I love (in case you hadn't already guessed from my threads and posts!) cooking and when I get the time, reading.

Since retirement I do charity work for the British Heart Foundation, take Ed, my aging staffie for walks and as an ex-councillor advise neighbours on how to deal with bureaucratic decisions. The rest of the time is spent hanging on to the floor.

I like reading (mainly biographies and about early pioneers and explorers). I also enjoy researching military ephemera and medals. There are so many amazing stories behind these. I like playing chess but haven't had much opportunity lately.

I've turned my hobby into my job, or a big part of it.

Sewing is a huge passion of mine and I had so many things I'd made that I needed to find an outlet to sell them. This was difficult to find, so I started organising craft fairs for totally handmade crafts only. I now have a huge collection of new and vintage fabrics (I ought to get therapy for my obsession)

I love reading, cookery, music and singing. I'm hoping to visit the Banksy exhibition in Bristol soon. Currently, I'm having fun with the Wii Fit.

The other thing I do in my spare time, is help OH in his chocolatier business. I'm the taster although I won't touch the chili & lime chocolate.

Blimey Jules - you kept that one quiet. I can be on hand for any chilli chocolate tasting if he is short of volunteers.

                              Hobbies: hmm:
Photography mainly - love old cameras with personality. Battered lenses a speciality [if not I have been known to bodge them with sandpaper to roughen them up a bit] - toy plastic cameras are my faves.
                              Cooking: yummity yum.
                              Reading
NGS gardens - love nosing around and getting ideas from other people [some call it research]
Combining the above is also good; making little books of my photography, reading books on any of the above, history of any of the above.

I also mod for a nice friendly forum, when I've got a spare minute or two.
