  • What made you smile today?

The weather is pants, raining yet again when I need to be down on the allotment weeding and doing jobs. I was feeling really grumpy and trying to cheer myself up with the posts on the forum (a sure winner). I am sat on the floor as the seatees have been claimed by the sleeping dogs (couldn't bring myself to move them), when Boots started snoring behind me, then the legs started twitching. He must have been dreaming about this mornings walk/swim as his paws were off like mad in time with the snores, a few minutes later he is quiet but he didn't half make me smile! Now Sprocket is at it but she is having a little bark in her sleep.

So what strange thing made you smile today?

Your post Sprocket, as it reminded me of my boys when they have chases in their sleep! When Bob had his knee op, running in his sleep was the only exercise he was allowed, I had to wake him up once as I thought he was over doing it! Jake goes seriously mad in his sleep, woofing, and all fours going at once! He even wakes himself us sometimes

Not much today (very very very bad day) but then I remembered Monday night and started to get the giggles. Here's why...

I was reading (for the 1st time in months) a scary book, it was just kicking off (all the bad things being heralded by grey moths) when the Bambina's monitor sqwarked.

So I've nervously made me way down to the middle landing and just as there's a ginnormous clap of thunder, a blo*dy grey month dive bombed me from the ceiling!!!

Thus leading to me have a near heart attack and almost investing in some tenner lady you know whats. Luckily there was only me to witness this lapse of bravery as it was 10 past what! hour in the morning

Note to self: stop reading scary books again.

I've got a doggie on loan, so he's making me smile - not much else is, today (two of my fish died this morning).

Dog was a good boy on the bus this morning (his first time) and I was a good girl for not shouting at the bus driver who told me off for having a wet ticket, or the old biddy who told me off for letting the dog get wet (it has been belting down all day and besides he's got a coat on, which is more than I had).

I have just made cucumber ice-cubes for Sunday's Pimms, so that made me smile (it worked!)

I'm trying to get the washing dry, but it's hopeless.

              Realising I'm a doofus.

Having a discussion with fellow office dude earlier regarding the subject of "Ivy League" colleges, and the origins of the title "Ivy League".

I recently loaned him "Into the Wild" - a book about a dude called Chris McCandless who after graduating goes off "into the wild" to live free and alone. Reading the book my fellow dude seems to think it referenced ivy league - and he made the conclusion that it had something to do with old buildings and ivy growing up them.

Anyway, at that exact moment when he said "growing up them" it suddenly twigged.

In my mind I thought briefly to myself ", hang on a minute, ivy doesn't grow up buildings - it grows from an elepha...."

              T'was epiphanous I tell you.

All this time - all those years I have been associating the word "ivy" with elephant tusks, and getting me ivy/ivory mixed up!

I had been hearing "Ivy League", yet in my mind I'd been thinking "Ivory League".

I did of course reveal my error to my friend.

                  Chooks....

....you never have the camera when you need it!

The chooks were under the patio table, which is under the wilko's gazebo, sheltering from the rain. Curled up next to Buffy & Gladys was a little kitten, fast asleep. Awwwww.....

I tried . Couldn't find the blinkin' camera, then I found it and my the time I got outside from the other door so as not to disturd the sleepy group, the chooks had all moved leaving the little kitten to wonder where his duvet had gone!

What made me smile was my great niece ( 4 next month ) coming down some very steep steps at Trago ( dangerously so ) holding her dress high in the air showing everything, so. a. she didnt trip over it and b. it didnt get wet lol.
