      Have another guess!
Dexter is a mongrel - he has a very little bit of staffy in him (he has the jaw apparently) but he looks like a german shepherd to me, well, in colouring anyhow.
He's just a mongrel who the RSPCA found wandering around Preston and we consider ourselves lucky that he decided to come home with us some 8 years ago.

A Bitsa Mad as a hatter, loves people but gets very excitable when he meets them . Not so keen on other dogs when he's on the lead but I think that's a sort of defence thing.

(dad was a springer spaniel, mum was half pointer half whippet)

Used to have Dalmations lovely natured but selective hearing when told to do something. They're also over exuberant and don't calm down till they're about 7.

Haven't had a dog now for about 3 years, more's the pity, but have had German Shepherds in pairs over the last 30 years. Wonderful breed, clever, loyal and gentle and a great burglar deterrent! My daughter has just got a Springer Spaniel and although he is still a pup, I think he's going to make a wonderful dog. You'll certainly be spoiled for choice when all the grapes have told you about their dogs!

Mr DDL and I had decided we wanted a dog from the RSPCA. We went for a look round. Dexy was the first one in the first cage, but was taken, so we carried on.
We went into the reception to hear the manager talking to someone on the phone. As it turned out the people who had reserved Dexy couldnt take him for another few weeks due to them moving house. We asked if we would have him, the RSPCA said yes, after checks etc. I visited Dexy for a couple of saturday and sundays until I got the call - the RSPCA hadnt realised we had already had 3 of their cats - Dexy was ours.
During the visits with Dexy, we played for ages in the RSPCA compound, which was good, we got to know each other before I took him home.
Dexy is one of the best things that has ever happened to us.
I'd go and have a look round your local RSPCA and see if any of the dogs appeal to you and take it from there.
I'd just say make sure you have enough time to look after him/her. And in Dexys case, just beware of the full moon and all the howling and barking!
Do let everyone know how you get on.

We're still upset after losing our rescue spaniel 3 weeks ago. We had only had her 3 months, turned out she had a heart complaint that neither the vets at the centre, nor our own picked up on. If you want a good sob, go to the Rainbow Bridge page of k9rescue, she was called Wave. We still have Maisie, our rescued Borzoi, also from Rosedene, but 6 years ago. How anybody can throw a dog out on the A5 at Cannock I don't know!! She was found wandering, they thought she'd been on her own for about 6 weeks, covered in fleas, tics, underweight, in a terrible state. After we had had her for about 6 weeks, we took her back to visit the home, they thought we'd had a second one!!
I can't tell you what to choose, we always seem to have the dog choose us!!
