    That two hours and forty minutes of my life I'll never get back...

    The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Three words for you. DULL. DULL. DULL!
    I seem to recall it got great reviews when it came out. I only stuck with it so that I could see Brad Pitt in his "youthened" state and at the end Mr Teez and I looked at each other and said, "What was that all about, then?"
    It almost matches my opinion of "Hudson Hawk" - the only film that I have walked out of the cinema halfway through....

    Now if you want a GOOD film, my top five would be..

    1 Now Voyager - Betty Davis, " Oh Jerry, we have the moon. Let's not ask for the stars!"
    2 The Shawshank Redemption. Could listen to Morgan Freemans voice anytime.
    3 Apollo 13. Ed Harris, " We've never lost an American in space and we sure as hell ain't gonna lose one on my watch!"
    4. Moonstruck. Nic Cage! -say no more!
    5.The Green Mile. "I's scared of the dark, boss.."

    Go on, you know you want to....

      Yep, couldn't agree more.

      The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was dullsville USA. It really didn't get anywhere for me. I guess it's just my opinion and there are loads of people who love it but it just didn't do it for me.

      I haven't seen Now voyager but I agree with you on all the others and I would add Contact and Close encounters of the third kind to the list.

        Don't you think that film was just a remake of Forest Gump with all the scenarios re-engineered?
        I didn't mind the film, but it wasn't as good as Forest-"stupid is as stupid does"-Gump.

        For me (in no particular order):

        a) Fight Club
        II) The Matrix
        3) The Shawshank Redemption
        6) Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
        g) The whole Back to the Future Trilogy (Don't make me pick one! Obviously I is the best, but it's not the same without the other 2)

        (^That list will change every time you ask me, throwing The Godfather, The Untouchables, The Green Mile, The Usual Suspects and Saving Private Ryan in and out of the list)

          Much the same Ollie, but I have to be in the mood for some of them.

          However, films I could watch anytime:

          1. High Fidelity
          2. Godfather
          3. Clash of the Titans (remake being released this year by the way)
          4. Dog Day Afternoon
          5. Gladiator

            High Fidelity is a strange film, good in it's own right but bears little resemblance to the book. Same goes for Fever Pitch (also by Nick Hornby) - totally different to the original.

            Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

            Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                I'm biased as I'm a big John Cusack fan - have been since I watched Better Off Dead as a kid.

                I'm worried as "they" ruined Jason and the Argonauts when "they" made a new version, but my mate (huge film buff) says it looks good and is his "film to watch" for 2010.

                    2. The Piano - Harvey Keitel with tattoos, need I say more! Music!!!!
                    3. Angels with dirty faces - James Cagney is supreme
                    4. One flew over the cuckoos nest - the tragic humour, especially relevant for peeps like me who have worked in the "care field"

                      I liked the original, but those old-school effects have been dying for a revamp for years. Like you say, provided they don't balls it up (and keep Tim Burton away from it) it should be a cracker.

                      Anyone seen the trailer for the film version of The Prisoner staring Jim Calveizeielsiels and Magneto?

                          Ah, you gotta love Harryhausen!

                          I used to love special effects as a kid - the "old school" variety, and as a result used to love watching "The Wizard of Speed and Time", but it's not available in the UK so I haven't seen it for years and years.

                            Not a great lover of films - I lose the will to live before I lose the plot! However, I agree with Shawshank. I also love O Brother Where Art Thou? For the music as well as the story.
                            As an fully paid up girlie, I can also watch Sleepless in Seattle over again.

                            That's about it. Can't think of 5!
