  • Time to check your freezers!!!

Go on...have a good rummage around and see what you have in there so you can get eating up some of last years produce.
I went to get some gooseberries yesterday for a crumble, thinking I had about 10lb to eat up- only to find another equally huge bag
In the past I've been freezing rhubarb when I've got a few bags left from the previous year ( and the previous to that!)

Why not have a 'freezer week' and see how little you need to buy from the shops and munch your way through the freezer! ( spare cash could go towards fresh seeds!!!!)

    Well- what do ya think???

Me too, my freezer's full of all sorts of bits, including plums and greengages. I really need to sort it out, but I think I am going to end up with some really strange meals.

              Plums make a lovely chutney.

We were planning to make plum & chilli sauce with them, but had an epic failure with the chillis last year So then we thought we'd make wine with them, but the stones all need to be removed for that

                  I've only got semi-stewed apples left (

Looking forward to more gluts this year of more things!

(oh I've some frozen chillies left, not sure how long they keep for?)

I still have enough runner bean to last till next harvest. Some rhubard/ blackberries and tayberry. At this time of the year I tend to make mixed fruit tarts (when we have family round) so anything and everthing goes in even a few dates.

Have some blackcurrants and some redcurrants. Waiting to finish off the last of the jam I made in the autumn and will then use up these.
I also have some borlotti beans and a few other bits and pieces. Will have to use them soon as the freezer needs to be defrosted badly.

Been using mine for the second year - the texture goes a bit squidgier and a few of them have freezer burn, but they still seem to have heat in pasta sauces. Good job too - I also had an epic chilli fail last year with the weather here.

Rhubarb is all I have left in the freezer, I was going to make wine but didnt. I am the only one that likes crumble, OH wont eat much fruit cos of being diabetic. Daughter likes veg but not much fruit.
