  • Such a Blubbering idiot!!!!

Although it's not my boys last day at nursery until Friday, today was the last day he'd see one of his main teachers as she doesn't work Thurs or Friday.......was sooo determined I'd take it all in my stride & not get all stupidly emotional....instead handed her her pressie & simultaneously lost all ability to speak!!...What the 'eck am I gonna be like come Friday??!!....may take a box of kleenex in preparation!!

Aw... bet she was really touched. But, yes...sounds like come Friday, you'll be a little damp of eye, so go prepared and wear waterproof mascara... xxx

Awww! Like Rhona says, I'm sure it was appreciated.

And you're not alone. After my kids did their school plays last week, I called into the school office on a routine thing. What I meant to say was 'do you have next weeks menus?' but what actually came out was 'I'm the proudest Mummy on the planet', swiftly followed by a scramble for my hanky
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I just think my plan of action for Friday will be to avoid any eye contact at all costs, not attempt to talk to anyone, let DS dish out the pressies whilst I'm not watching, walk calmly out the gate when it's all over....& then prob blub the whole way home!!....Then go through it all over again when he starts school in January!........& then there'll be DD's last day at the infants in July...& I'm usually such a level headed gal!!(well sometimes!)

Well I think it's a tribute to teachers Di.
My daughter is 40 (just can't believe that, she was born last week and looks 25).
When she was in school she just loved her teachers. When she left her primary school she was crying because she loved them so much. Her secondary teachers were a great influence on her life and she visited them long after she left school.
She still speaks of them (well some of them) with great affection.
We don't bring children up alone and we should be grateful to the people who put valuable input in along the way.
If you have to say good bye to them, just bubble if you want to.
Sometimes they get little enough thanks.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Lauren's Yr2 teacher was one of these. She was great with the kids and very popular with the dads too! She genuinely seemed to love them all. Lots of tears when they said goodbye. She had me in tears at a parents evening when she gave me some wonderful news about pickle's progress.
Current teacher admits that she was a hard act to follow!! But I think this one is brilliant too.

Oh Dear!!!.....I did fine until Santa arrived!!Seeing my once shy lil boy confidently go up & get his pressie & let Santa know what he wants for Christmas....then,as if the teachers actually wanted me to break down, all the leavers had to go stand at the front for the "Good~bye" song!.....I'm afraid by the time we had to hand out pressies I totally caved they had to make do with a hug as nothing comprehensible was gonna be coming out from my mouth....& I've got home & realised I've still got a visitor badge....so we'll have to go back in the new year to show off his big boy uniform!
Can't believe,as of now,I'm the mummy of two school kiddies!!&&

awww, its a smashing feeling, i have 'first day' photos of my kids at all three stages, the last one being seconday school, got told off for that one.
I am hoping they will have grown out of the embarassment by the time they finish college.

Just really glad to know I'm not alone!! I blubbed uncontrollably through youngest DD's graduation this year - I was actually fine and having a great time, till I caught sight of another mum with tears streaming down her face - set me off and couldn't stop - the photos (with me in) are astoundingly awful!! Just wish I could grow out of it!

So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly!
