  • solar powered water feature?

Does anyone have one? Does it work properly?
I want one, but am being put off by hubby who tells me they are carp. Please tell me he is wrong so I can send some wedding money!

I've got a small one Janey, the type with three earthenware bowls that pour into each other. I bought it in a closing down sale 7 years ago for £10 and it's still going strong. I love it.

Ooh and if you're sending your wedding money anywhere, could it be to me please? Many thanks

We had one. The dish was so shallow that in hot summers the water would evapourate, probably the same as FF's above. I had to top it up quite often, but it did work. The bowels did get algae all over them though.

This is the one I've got (without the stripes on it):

I put rocks in the bottom of it too, it hid the algae a bit better.

We bought it from (well, it was a gift) a local garden centre.. I just googled for a 'three tiered water fountain solar powered' - or something like that

I saw that QVC has some from searching (or at least the images were from their site).

They're heavy though, so I'd see if you can buy locally first.. postage would be expensive! One of my bowls cracked from frost though, bit annoying!

We sell them at work, (also an aquatics specialists) They do work but the technology on them isn't great and they never work as well as the electric ones. Sorry

If you like when I'm back from work, I'll take a photo of it and measure it?

I guess the lower bowl is 18" in diameter. The smaller ones are probably 6-8" ? The jug I guess is the same size, if not a ltitle larger than an old style / posh milk jug for the table use hehe.

Thanks that would be helpful! I am after a biggun as the pergola/thingie it will sit in front if (as yet unpurchased too) is about 2m wide so I don't want it to look lost in front of it.

and yes I did get married a few weeks ago abroad and had reception at the weekend. We asked for no presents as been together a long time, but family wanted to give something so we asked for money so I can get an arbour/pergola thingie - hence all the searching now
here is the seat I have my eye on:

Good grief, that is nice but expensive.

I bet you could make one for less than £100.

Edit: I would if I had somewhere for it to go! My garden shape is odd

normally we would (OH made the chicken coops, fitted the bathrooms and kitchen etc) but at the moment my new hubby has too many family issues with his ailing parents to spend the time. It would be nice to get him to make it then it would fit the space right too!
