    It's a disgrace.
Mr Sheds pays £55 a month. I guess he gets value for money though ... he has no hobbies, just sits goggly eyed in front of the box for 5 hrs an evening.

          ha!
when we first signed up, it was for the "free" broadband.
We paid, got the telly, but no BB.
Several phonecalls ensued, before Sky finally admitted their BB didn't cover our area
... but if we paid a bit more they could connect us thru BT (we were on BT before !!!)

I hate sky, they have messed us around so much. We found an email address to the head of the customer service department. We emailed him a letter explaining what was wrong etc and we had sky plus fitted for free, extra channels added and our bill cut down from £20 to £10 for 6 months!

I can write out our story at lunch if anyone is interested.

We had Sky years ago. When I went to cancel it the woman on the other end went around and around in circles. Instead of cancelling she was too busy trying to convince me to upgrade. She got pretty angry when I told her to stop her sales pitch and just cancel the damn thing. In the end I simnply told her I'd do it myself by stopping the direct debit and put the phone down.

                  We now have freeview instead.

I am a sports nut, dont watch films but do watch docu's Nat Geo etc.
Cant remember how much it cost, in the UK, but I know it was quite expensive, but I paid it to watch the sport. I always refused to pay the extra for boxing events etc because I felt I paid enough.
In France I have Canalsat and Canal+, and have all the sports channels. It equates to about the same as what you're paying now. It is expensive but I love sport, so for me its worth it.
Guess it depends on if you feel you get value for your money.

Don't forget the extra £12 (nearly) cost per month which you cannot avoid to pay those oh-so value for money salaries of fat cats Wossy and co!

I kicked sky into touch many years ago and kept getting letters etc from them offering 3 months FREE. As others have said they're often keen to reduce the subscription for a while if you stay with them.

Its a question of if you can afford it in these current financial times and in view of same is it value for money for your needs.

                          On the side of Sky.

We pay £17.50 a month which covers all the channels we like to watch and have just had a Sky Plus box installed for free. Sky plus is great.
On the other hand Sky customer services are pants!

We got rid of Sky last year when the OH wasn't working, it was just tooo much money every month on top of the licence fee and the broadband and the mobiles and the phonebill... I haven't missed it at all, all the sport that we wanted to watch was either on Setanta or pay per view and you can find most of it on the radio or internet if you look hard enough.

This is the email address I found and emailed:

                              Jeremy.Darroch@bskyb.com

After emailing them someone rang me back within an hour and was trying to sort out the problem. This is a good email address to add to address book incase you are not happy with your sky account!
