  • Shopping or putting away?

What do you hate more? Is it doing the actual grocery shopping, or is it the putting away of it when you get home?
For me, though I'm not keen on the shopping, I really do hate unpacking the bags and putting it all away!

Just, after many diversions, finished putting it away. Found that I didn't get any tinned tomatoes! :-(

Me too, Bernie I hate putting away- and that is the start of discovering that I didn't really need to buy the things anyway! Sometimes find thing in bags that I bought yonks ago and never used. (Not food - that tends to clutter up in the fridge.)
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

          I have to do both.

If OH "helps" then all he does is empty every bag onto the worktops before toddling off to the sofa with whatever goody he managed to find in them.

Glad it's not just me that hates putting away. I always end up having to re-arrange the fridge and the cupboards and find stuff I can't remember why I bought.

I loath the crowds when shopping. I like to go to the shops, get what I want and get out as quickly as possible.
Groceries get delivered by wonderful Asda van. And the kids have a putting away routine. One takes the fridge/freezer and one takes the cupboards. I empty the bags and place strategically so they can see what has to be fitted into the available space. This happens about once per month.
I just need then to top up with milk, bread, etc as required and a few bits that always get forgotten or not delivered from the main shop.

I dont like either, but always try to get to the shop early to beat the crowds.
My little 'un puts some of the things away and helps carry the bags in (the light ones with toilet roll etc )
I would prefer to shop locally, but there are no local shops anymore The last remaining Greengrocer was taken over just after Christmas and now its a 'budget' greengrocer....if you get my drift.

I'd rather not shop, but I hate the putting away afterwards. Especially when I open the 'tins' cupboard and find the OH has employed his 'ram it til it fits' strategy!

                    Neither.
You want a tin of baked beans so ;-
                    1. Off the shelf into the trolley
                    2. out the trolley onto the checkout .
                    3. off the checkout back into bag in trolley (obvoiusly you have more than one tin of BB's)
                    4. Bag out of trolley into car
                    5. bag out of car and into house.
                    6. Tin out of bag and into cupboard
                    7. Out of cupboard to be eaten
Now I'm sick of moving that tin of baked beans around.!
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig

I loathe both. When I was working full-time, I would do an on-line shop, and make sure Mr. G was in (and I was out ) when it was due. This used to work very well. Now I don't shop on-line, but Mr. G loves shopping - Yay! I don't like putting stuff away, but that's because we're short of space.

That's the strategy I use when putting stuff in the airing cupboard! Drives OH mad when he opens the door and stuff falls onto him!
