Is there a minimum age to be on Face Ache?

According to the site FAQ, you have to be 13. But that's easy enough to get round with a fake DOB if the child is determined enough, and I know a lot of my friends' kids have accounts that are younger than that.

I wondered if that was the case, thanks Sarz. Another family fall out because of FB, so glad I don't participate.

Forgive my ignorance, but is it moderated?

If you disagree with a youngster using it, you can always 'report' them, and they'll be taken off (though nothing to stop them signing back on with a fake ID)

No not really. You can report stuff that you find offensive, but thats about it

Dunno but I have imposed a maximum. i.e my age. Can't abide the thought of it.

If you just use it as email with pictures, it's fantastic. They've just introduced group chat now too, so you can live chat to several people at once.

You don't have to have 3,000 friends you don't actually know, and you don't have to tell everyone you're having toast for tea, and you don't have to partake in all the daft games on there.

(you can also continue chatting with the Grapes when the Vine crashes)

I must admit, I've never quite understood Facebook. I'm perfectly in their target demographic (or original demographic) University student, 21 years old. I've always preferred to call people and speak to them, at a push text them, or, if all else fails... meet them face to face.

I've always found so much drama circulating events on Facebook that I've never really fancied using it.

The children got me into it. Took me ages to get the hang of it, but I quite like it now. Yes people do post some rubbish, but you can be selective with your friends and keep your profile closed enough that not everyone can see what you post. I like some of the games on there too, particularly scrabble and Gardens of Time.

it's most useful when your friends & family are 100s of miles away

There's the occasional story of some idiot posting how much they hate their boss (which then gets circulated to said boss), or someone who's been dumb enough to post about their affairs and then their marriage crashes ... it's no better or worse than tittle-tattle and gossip 'face to face'

It's just a communication tool; that's all. It's supposed to be for the kids but really, it's for the adults. I've had hardly any drama using it - one time someone read something I wasn't expecting them to read but meh - I meant every word and so no harm done.

It really is great for communicating with people across the globe that you would never be able to just meet face to face at that point, and for seeing photos of people's fab hols and for keeping in touch and sharing stuff that you would talk about in the pub if you didn't live 300 miles away now.

You can report anyone younger than that, if you want to

Against my sons wishes his ex has opened an account for my 9 ( now 10 ) year old grandson, after complaints from us she closed it but has opened one again and wont let any of us be his freind, it has been reported again but nothing has been done. So I dont see that reporting him being underage has any affect what so ever.
