  • A proud mum and nan

My daughter and grandson Sue and Sam appear on the front page of the online Essex Chronicle. They are also due to be on BBC Look East news this evening. 2 Hours filming for one minute 45 seconds on the screen! We are so very proud of the way they have both fought their cancers. Life since last October has been very up and down but we appear to be out the other side now. Phew!

Sam was diagnosed in October when he was just 13 and right from the start he said he would treat it as an adventure. As our daughter says in the article his whole attitude was one of lets get on with it and was an inspiration to all of us and when her turn came, as she said, how could she make a fuss when he didn't. Bad as it was, Sue said at the beginning, if everyone's problems were thrown up in the air, you'd be pleased to catch your own, because there is always somebody worse off than you. It doesn't feel like it at the time mind you - I'm not as brave as them!!

Fantastic news, obviously I wont be able to watch it but I bet a lot of people that do will be both inspired and humbled.

Thanks Bren, that's very kind of you, and to all of you for your kind words. I would just like to say (for those who look at the picture) that the publicity originally started because a local company "Scent to You Bears" donated waxed teddies to local pubs to raise funds for CLICC Sargent who were such a wonderful support. The Teddy isn't Sam's!! but one that was given to him by the company.
My son-in-law's firm backed a Triathlon in June and with their support £20,000 was raised and split between the two charities.
They are hoping to organise another one next year.

I wasn't sure if you meant geographically Glutton but if you didn't then my thoughts are with you, and any one else who is in this position.
