Can somebody let me know how you go about putting a photograph on your details so it shows up when posting a thread? I think I must be the only person not to have one and I can't figure out what to do

do you mean an avatar? if so, go to your profile (User CP) and look to the left, it says 'edit avatar', you then select a picture either from your computer or enter the url

Edit Signature
Edit Email & Password
Edit Options

You will need to reduce the size of your pictures before you can post them on here. This is a good (free) tool:
