  • Pea & Pod at 10 + 3

I really hope I am not jinxing the two bubbas by giving them their vine names now but positive thinking eh! This choice was so obvious and I hope you all agree.

My family and I nearly all spent Saturday night in different houses! One of Mr Dandys friends is the Mayor of Enfield and it was his ball on Saturday night. I had asked my Mum first if we could all stay and she could babysit but with it being Mothering Sunday weekend she had my Grandparents down from Cambridgeshire so didnt have enough space for all of us. She said I could stay though and I was thankful as there wouldnt be enough room for us all to stay at the mother-in-laws. Then as Parents in law were going to the ball too they couldnt baby sit so in the end his brother (who lives at home) baby sat Bashfull Bill at parents-in-law and one of my sisters had Bluebelle. Mr Dandy was working during Saturday and Sunday days but went to the ball from and slept at his Mums so it was only the boys in the same house! How complicated is that! - I dread to think how much worse it will be when our brood doubles!

I asked my Mum before the weekend if she had told my news to my Grandparents and she said no but my sister had - she is just so excited although wont admit it as she is also worried that they make it this time. Soon after I arrived on Saturday I told them but didnt let on that I knew they knew and neither did they as I told them. They didnt critise at all which was a relief especialy after my Mum had indicated that it was my own fault for getting pregnant and so feeling so lousy as well as warning me that getting to 12 weeks wouldnt mean I was home and dry etc! I spent another 4 hours finishing my sisters wedding stationery (at long last it is all done!) and then spent some time to myself (bliss) getting ready.

We had a lovely time at the ball, it was nice to catch up with all our friends and the meal was simply divine. Mother-in-law did start to give me a lecture that I shouldnt maybe have eaten it all as it was such a big meal and I did try to defend myself by telling her it was the first proper meal I had eaten in weeks as I just cannot cook at the moment as it makes me heave. I feel sick if I dont eat and then by the time I have prepared something I feel sick once I have eaten it too! I have been told off twice now by the midwives for having keytones (sp?) in my wee, which means I am not eating enough and my body is burning up body fat and I really wish I had thought to tell her that but I am not very good with words in an argument and only think of the clever things afterwards. I have been ok eating fruit and so mentioned that but when asked what fruit and I answered bananas first, she jumped on that and said how fattening they are. Why didnt I think to tell her that at least it was making up for not being able to eat properly! I am hoping that with 4 I will be so busy I will soon be able to get down to a decent size. I know they all worry about my wieght but with my thyroid never being at its optimum level I am always too tired or run down to burn off what I eat. I do love my food but dont feel I eat huge amounts. When I used to swim every day I was sooo skinny I used to be called a white ethiopian!

I wore the sandles I got for the hen night, which I am now dreading as they crippled me so much! It didnt stop me from having good old dance though. Most of the circle of friends we were with are men (confirmed batchelors, with a love of beer, types) and so I felt sorry for the only other girl in our group as you could tell she was itching to dance too so in the end (even though I dont know her as well as the others) I tottered over to her and dragged her up. You could tell she enjoyed it as much as I did (surprising how you can dance with sore feet (without alchhol too!) if the music is good and no I couldnt take my sandles off as I was driving home and was worried I wouldnt get them back on again!) as she thanked me for dancing with her when we said our goodbyes. Oh......I won a raffle prize and chose a bottle of champagne which I hope we will be drinking in October!

I got home around 1am, which must sent my system into shock (normaly in bed at 8pm at mo!) as I had a hangover in the morning! How can you have a hangover without alcohol you say? - dead easy! Dry mouth, sore eyes...its not all caused by alcohol you know - I was the living proof. It was nice to have a relaxing wakeup, shower and breakfast without the kids and I was starting to feel a bit better as I drove to collect Bluebelle. Mind you I was also suffering from what I thought to be hayfever but I now think I have got a heavy cold as I feel even worse today. Dont seem to be feeling pea and pod move so much at the mo hut am not going to get paranoid about it as it is still really very early days. Di (andi&di) has given me a really good tip which seems to really be working. I have to think of all my negative thoughts as being filed in a little black box in my head. As soon as negative thought try to creep out I have to slam the lid shut quick. Thanks hun for telling me that - it has got me through a very tiring weekend. I still cannot wait for my next scan though - only two weeks and 1 day left to go!

I hope you have all been able to understand my waffle. Will be around much of today to chat if you want to be bored anymore LOL!!!

Glad that you enjoyed the ball and the fine dinner. Such a shame that some, have to find something to criticise. Ignore any negative comments, keep thinking positive and look after yourself.

I was so pleased to see this message - you had seemed to go quiet (now I know why, too busy being the belle of the Ball!), and I sent positive vibes that things were okay.

Wow, I am super impressed that you managed to stay up until 1am, I'm sure that I could never have managed that when I was expecting my boys! (They were 'The Little Wrigglers' when they were in my bump - I felt them move really early, but as time went by they had less and less room!)

Got to get off to bed now, but don't forget, if you ever have a twins question, just fire it in my diection and I'll do my best! Now, you take it easy now, less of the razzle dazzling and early mornings Mrs - glad you enjoyed it.

Be very careful about the ketones thing!! (from one who knows just enough biochemistry to worry). Keep something 'instantly ready' in the house (bananas are a good idea) and nibble when you need to. Sometimes the feeling sick is aggravated by ketosis, so be ready to fight it (cream crackers are good, eaten plain they don't set anything off, and are just enough to counteract the nausea).
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
