  • not good :(

today, i decided to try the rabbit with the chooks, to see if she could live with them, so she can have a basically touch free life ........ and a nice big run .... unfortunately, the damned thing took a chunk out of my wrist whilst i was getting her out...... blood everywhere, think it probably should have stitches, but i can't be bothered to go to the hospital, so have a big pad and a bandage on it ..... i really hate her grrrr

anyway, the babies were all out in the polytunnel, so i took her in with them and figured there was nothing for it but to let her out and see what happens, knowing the chooks can fly out of the way, and run fast, i figured it should be ok ....... so i opened the cat basket, and psycho came out and sat for a second, then just went mental running round trying to eat them ..... she flew through the air, more than they did

they just got into a mad panic and ran round sqeaking, so i had to pin her in the corner and get her out ...... it's so frustrating, i can't build 2 runs so she can live outside, there just isn't the room, i can't keep her in the house, cos she's just not safe to have loose, so she's mostly confined to her cage and the hallway, which isn't what i wanted at all, i daren't even get another rabbit, cos i think she'd kill it ....... she just seems so miserable all the time and she's making me miserable, cos she's no fun to have around.

hoping i can get her to the vets shortly to see if theres anything they can think of, but if i'm being honest, i think she may actually have to be put down, which also wasn't what i had in mind when i got her i've been putting it off hoping she may suddenly come round, but i really don't think it's gonna happen now.

It's a tough decision Linda but I think you know that something has to be done and done soon .
Can you not take the rabbit back or give it to an animal shelter rather than having it put down . As long as you tell them about the vicious streak in it then I don't see why you would put it down.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.

i'd go weth beefys suggestion, youve given her your best shot and she doesnt sound like shes gonna improve, and as long as you tell the rescue/shelter about her viciousness, you wouldnt want a kid injured like youve been

mostly cos they will put her down anyway, they don't rehome vicious animals.... i rang the local rspca, and basically they said they won't take her, as she wouldn't be suitable for rehoming ..... no kid could have her, and to be honest i can't see anyone else having her either and i'd feel terrible when she bit the next person.... it's horrible i just feel like i've failed her, but i just can't see any way out ...... i'll keep thinking putting her down will be a last resort xx

              Any one for pie?
Sorry but youve given it your best shot, she cant be handled, you wouldnt want to breed from her and pass those genes on. Best of luck

Animals are like people in some respects, you get good tempered ones and bad tempered ones, there may not be any logical reason why she is behaving the way she is, it is a horrible decision to make i know but i think that having her put down would be the kindest thing rather than her being passed from pillar to post because no one can handle her, that would be just has stressful and unkind to her. Take care.

nope, she's not been spayed, she was like this already at 12 weeks when i got her, she is now twice the size she was, and still despite me being patient is just absolutely no better ...... think the first trip will be to the vets, but i'm not holding my breath that anything will work.

feel free, the last thing i want to do is put her to sleep, she has already had 3 homes, and she's not 6 months old yet ..... have just found this website, Tameside Rabbit and Guinea Pig Rescue - first page and they do say they have some permanent residents cos of temperament etc. i think i'll give them a ring in the morning and see if they can help ....... like miffy, i don't want her to keep getting passed round, or worse still getting dumped somewhere cos she's evil ..... all i know for certain now is, i can't keep her........ tis weird, i've tackled and broken semi wild horses ....... and she scares me more

Poor you lynda! I really hope something can be done for bunny, I remember how excited you were when you first got her (before she revealed murderous tendencies!)
                              Goodluck with getting her help.
