  • new greenhouse?

I currently have a 6 x 8 polycarb greenhouse that I only put up last Novemeber.

I am very happy with it.

I went for polycarb, because I have a 2 year old daughter running around.

However, a friend of mine has just offered me an 8 x 12 greenhouse for free, which is very similar to this:

12x8 Silver Frame Horticultural Glass Greenhouse & Base - Home Delivered, SO0355KB

THe greenhouse is absolutely fine, it came with a house he recently bought, but he is not interested in gardening at all. So it must go.

It is very easy to extend my existing concrete base, and I do have the room for it.

Only problem is that it is not toughened glass.

THis is an expensive greenhouse, do I really say no????

THat is possibe VC, as I still have to convince the missus!

I am going to look at it now. So I will put some pics on here soon....

I could possibly replace all the bottom panes with toughened glass?

I do have a friend that is a glazier

        Jealous! I want a greenhouse.

Will be expensive to replace all the glass but it's up to you if it's worth it

You may be able to sell the glass and put the money towards buying toughened?

or, maybe a little fence all the way around?

Fence would be good to keep the little one away. Families with young boys tend to worry about balls being thrown around and breaking the glass - I know you have a daughter but maybe you kick a ball about too

                here are some pics.

I am thinking along the lines of replacing all the lower glass panels with polycarb.

8 of the polycarb panels on my existing greenhouse are already the correct size.

needs a damn good clean, but generally in good nic I'd say.

Girlfriend not too keen, as it is quite big, but I am working on it....

I have been looking and looking at my garden, but I think I actually want to keep my lawn.

It will be a real pain dismantling it all and re assembling anyway. And I am too busy at the moment.

I will give it a miss I think. But during winter, I will add another course of bricks to my existing g/h, for more height.

Oh, CG, I'm disappointed for you but I totally understand as it would take up a lot of space. If you wanted the width but not the length you could make it smaller

yes, I guess I was just living the dream for a few minutes.

Anyway - If anybody on here wants a free 12 x 8 greenhouse then let me know!

you will need to take it all down and remove it yourself, or of course with someone.

Otherwise it WILL be going to the dump.

I'd love to have it CG. It would be criminal to dump it. Need to find some willing volunteers to help dismantle and move it though. Let me think about it!!
