  • At Last! Fame and Fortune Beckon!

Well, it was only a matter of time. Today I took the first step down the road to untold riches and the sort of fame that would make Posh Spice green with envy.
My two best friends and I went and signed on at a casting for "extras" for the new series of "Doc Martin" which films in Port Isaac about 30 miles from where I live.
Just a case of filling out a form with your height, age (ouch!) dress size (double ouch!) and then having your photo taken standing holding a board with your name and number on it under your chin (a la American criminal).
They will contact me as and when they require my skills.
There was a section for "special skills" on the form. I limited myself to being able to sit on a horse without falling off too much, rather than add my ability to burp the alphabet.
But don't worry, I'll not let fame change me. O.k, Mr Creemteez will be sad when Johnnie Depp FINALLY realises that Vanessa Paradis has nothing on me, and comes to take me away, but any of my friends who know me will stand by me and those who don't....? I'll jusy BUY some new ones!....
Am I getting carried away with this fame thing?

Yeah, that Johnny Depp, he doesn't know what he's missing! Do you think he knows Sean Bean? I'll give you some heritage peas if you can blag me a date

Seriously though, sounds like potentially lots of fun, hope you get the call!

Port Isaac went there twice on holiday the first time in 1960.
My OH (Madderbat) comes from just outside Newquay
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Yes, all my loyal fans, Port Isaac is looking particularly lovely at the moment. Shame that they let people park on the beach! And if you want a cream tea after 5pm you'll be on a very sticky wicket.
Thanks for all your support, I'm sure that even when I'm jetting between Exeter and JFK I'll stiil be able to manage a little light weeding and a spot of slug-splatting, so as I say, I won't let fame change me!
I'm hoping that if I do get called, it will be to be in the back-ground of a pub scene that takes a VERY LONG time to film, and that there is real G&T in my glass!!

My pal played a dead person in a TV programme once (he was quite the thesp in his time - even played Tony the Tiger a few times), but those days are long behind him now he has chillun.

Good luck in your career as an actor (said with emphasised "OR") and remember us when you break it big.

Oy, my tabards are the height of fashion, its not my fault that you don't wear prada.

I've had my 0.02 seconds of fame, it didn't change me....much....I was always this way. I was once on the 'Big Breakfast', telling an outside doobrey, that what I wanted for christmas was Gaby Rosalind. I was not impressed she saw it, laughed but, didn't turn up on christmas day.

I also appeared as a crowd member in a six nations match once, I was behind the daffodil headed one. Darn that daffodil, you could almost make me out.

Might get myself a tabard for my costume! Very difficult to get hold of these days. Tried every shop in Bude that looked likely (Big pants, tartan slippers and nasal hair trimmers in the window display), but was met with blank looks and the words "There's no call for them" everywhere I went. BTW, IT WAS NOT FOR ME!!!! I was trying to purchase one for The Mother, who even though she will only drink bottled mineral water, still has a tendency to drop spagetti down her front. (Sigh...It's spagetti night tonight)
