  • Is it just me or does anyone else........

Is it just me or does anyone else get all excited and giddy about the impending growing season??? I find myself walking around my local garden centers and Wilko's almost in a trance so that my OH has to snap his fingers to wake me up!! Is this just a newbie thing or does it still hold that magic feeling for the more experienced growers???

Oh yes, I am so over excited by the prospect of sowing and growing this year. 2009 was my first year growing my own and I enjoyed every aspect of it. Over winter I have gathered together my seeds for next year, planned my plot and Im all set and raring to go :-)

No, blue411, it never stops. The inevitable winter hiatus is only relieved by bright seed packets and ingenious tools; even three for a tenner bags of compost take on a glow while you wait to sow that first seed on your windowsill. When you think what magic can come from a simple packet of seed, how could you not get excited?

That's why perfectly sensible experienced growers like me do barmy things like trying to get early sowings of chillies going when everyone knows it's too soon! Itchy compost syndrome!

I am fighting hard to keep the Itchy Compost Syndrome at bay, bought a bag a few weeks ago, its sat in my kitchen waiting for me, but trying hard to resist and not sow any tomatoes, chillies or peppers for a couple more weeks.

This explains why I just bought another Electric Propagator on ebay last week, as I too suffer from Itchy compost syndrome

"Lord Of The Rings" springs to mind when it comes to me and my seeds...My PRECIOUS.
I think I've got a bit of an obsession going on, I love this time of year, I've been gardening in one form or another for over 40 years and the felling never goes away.

I have numerous bits of paper with lists and growing plans on. This year my pig-pen will come under cultivation and I stand and plan--and plan!

I was just talking to the guy who owns the local GC. He reckons he is having a hard time resisting sowing stuff too. So its not just us newbies phew

My favourite offers (in the following order):

3 for £10 bottles of wine
3 for £10 bags of compost

I'm just trying out the salopettes I've bought to do my cold weather gardening in so my lower back and butt don't freeze. I think they may well be one of my better buys

                        You're all mad!

I would never DREAM of getting excited over a new growing season!

The excitement hasn't stopped yet. Far too many seeds, loads of compost, just waiting for the weather
