    Jodrell Bank

    Just a link to a cute little film made by some supporters of Jodrell Bank telescope which is under threat of closure due to government cutbacks in science funding. It's in my part of the world & we've been there several times & watched the show in the planetarium & walked around the grounds & admired the massive dish & it will be a national disaster if it closes. I know there are lots of other things in Britain which need funding but this is one of the pioneering things which has put Britain on the map & deserves to be saved.

    Don't go messin' with our telescope!

    First time we drove past and I said what the h$ll is that and OH told me it was Jodrell Bank I was thrilled, had a real WOW moment. It's something you grow up with - knowing the name that is, and I had no idea where it was. That lovely little film made me a bit teary, dreadful if we should lose Jodrell Bank..

        Im off to Jodrell bank on Sunday as its my OH birthday!
        Real shame if it closes....
        Life isnt about surviving the storm.....But learning to dance in the rain.

            As a kid I used to go there every weekend with my friends, I used to live in holmes Chapel and we used go on our bikes over the river dane via goosetree.

            I personally think that Jodrell Bank aka the lovell telescope should be fully funded by the government as its stature is that of a national monument with respect to astronomy.

                Sorry about the short notice - too busy in the garden to read TV mags!

                For those in the Granada region, ITV1 'Go Northwest' at 7.30pm today has a programme where 'Eamonn O'Neal learns about the scientific importance of Jodrell Bank'
