  • I've got lovely plums

And my apples and kiwi's also seem to be doing ok. The rest of the jungle that greeted me on my return after 7 weeks was almost enough to make me cry however.
I have seen a basic error, planted my toms too close together, now cant get anywhere near them.
Cant see my leeks at all, although I know I had some when I left, the runner bean net has a couple of tiny flowers peeping through a mass of weeds, couch grass and bindweed.
I have a squash that has escaped its raised bed, escaped the veggie plot and is currently heading towards the house at a rate of knots, I fear for my safety sleeping at nights, as its going towards my bedroom window.
The horseradish tub has disappeared totally, and as I sat now, looking forlornly out of my back window, the thistles are at least 4ft high.
    And its raining.

Will be better tomorrow when I'm less tired from travelling I'm sure.

I know what you mean. I have a couple trying to escape - and dont even mention the travelling distance of the pumpkin plant!

And a sunny day too, I hope !

I have raked the soil and planted the seeds
Now I've joined the army that fights the weeds.

        You should see my peaches

Welcome home Bob, shouldn't take a man of your kaliber long to whip it back into shape.

For god's sake, give yourself a break will you?
You know how to do it but you sound guilty of the 'I want it all done now' syndrome. Baby steps innit??

                  Welcome home Bob,
Don't worry you'll soon have it back in hand, and you should find some lovely veg hiding in amongst those weeds which will be a bonus.
                  Meanwhile, enjoy those plums
I do empathise as I have some serious weed clearing to do (on a smaller scale) to access the other side of my raised beds. Did the front last weekend and discovered the path that used to be there still is

I'm worried that this rogue squash might get hold of your plums Bob
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

After going to bed dreaming of Scarey's peaches and Piskies melons I awoke to a beautiful sunny day.
The little man who is going to fix my ride has been and collected it, several hours weeding and I found some leeks, parsnips, carrots and other stuff.
I'm not totally sure that Rainbow chard is supposed to be over 2ft tall, but its quite impressive.
Wiggo did ok on Mont Ventoux and its supposed to be sunny again tomorrow.
Amazing what a good nights sleep will do.

Seahorse, I also fear for my plums from the attack of this Waltham squash!!

Sounds like more of a cocozelle if you ask me!

What are you going to do with your plums Bob?
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower

I've found over the years that plums seem to work well with alcohol, so it will be something along those lines.
Plus eaten fresh, stewed, bottled, frozen, crumbled etc etc. I have between 15 - 20 plum trees so dont often suffer for a lack of them.
