    DOH!
It seems my mummy brain strikes again.
I had NO IDEA it was even due let alone run out. 10 years has never gone so fast!

I have got an emergency appointment to renew it at the passport office and it will cost me £114.

At least we found out now and not when we got to the airport.....

Wow! good job you checked in time. If you have an appointment they wll sort it for you. I think the standard cost is near that so maybe you have not been charged extra?
Have a good holiday, where are you off to?

Costa Calida in mainland Spain. I just wish I could find someone to have 2 small children sit with them on the flight!
Don't know much about this area - Murcia airport is nearest but am told it is where spanish people go to holiday so hopefully will be relatively peaceful

              Lucky you!
I lost my passport the day before we flew to Asia (it wasn't lost, I'd already packed it, doh)

Our friend was less lucky - they got to the airport to check in, and discovered their 10 year old daughter's passport was out of date. They had to leave her behind (with her grannie)

I have to say it is quite tempting to let OH take the children and I can have a week in peace at home with my book and the garden

Don't worry I went abroad half a dozen times with a passport that had a DOB of 1996 in it, what was in fact the date I renewed it on!
Lucky bit was I got a free ten year one when I complained!

we asked our doctor if we could have a very mild sedative for our daughter who has adhd for while we were on the flight (not to knock her out, just to calm her down a little bit!!)

her response was "ooooooooohhhhhh you don't need that, just give her a colouring book and some crayons".. i think they're still trying to scrub the lovely colourful crayon marks off the inside of the plane now

I do pack little things for them to 'unwrap' on the plane, it's a great way of occupying them.
The eldest has got a little dvd player so that should sort him, and ther little one will be standing on my lap, or the tray thing pulling the (ineviably) 'syroped' up chap in front of us' toupee! I saw it happen on a flight once!

I do ensure my children are behaving on the flight - but sometimes think it would be easier (and less stressful for me) to let them do what the majority seem to do and let them run riot! Running up and down, kicking the chairs in front, putting their seats up and down.... why can't they just sit still and colour!?!
