    French 'flat from coulliere' tom seeds

    Who swapped these with me? I've forgotten.

    Would be interested in knowing how yours are growing cos I've 3 plants and all the toms look like plum variety, not at all 'flat'.

    Moi! At least I had some saved from flat toms in Coulliere and swapped with you Thai seeda.

    Mine seem to be growing like a vine - no toms yet - flowers just about to open.

    Bought off a market and saved the seed from them - they were just wide flat toms.

    Diameter from memory a good 10cm, height half that which is why I called them 'flat'. Not sure if that makes sense now but it did at the time.

    I'll update as they grow but we had to hold all ours back due to the greenhouse coming at the start of May..otherwise they would be further on than this by now.

      I thought they were yours zazen.

      All ours are outside, 2 in the ground 1 in a pot. There's no chance of them being 'flat' I'm afraid, but hopefully they'll be tasty anyway. Maybe they were f1s?

        Aah - that's interesting.

        I also bought a tomato which I didn't call French Flat from Coulliere but I called French Long Plum from Coulliere [you can guess where this is going can't you]



        ....and I can't find that particular packet.

              I thought you'd like to know we've just put the first of the 'Long from Collioure' tomatoes into tonights veggie chilli (heat provided by a French 'espelette').

              Tasted very good, but am a bit worried the plants might be getting blight.

                Mine are also plum shaped [I thought of you when admiring my plums yesterday] but nowhere near harvest unfortunately.

                Not good news about the blight

                  We've given them evey chance by taking off lots of leaves and stopping them, so fingers crossed. Did you try growing the 'flat' toms?

                    Manda - Now you have taken off some foliage, give them a good feed which will help them no end.

                    Great looking Toms, pity you're not closer. :-)

                      I thought I would give them a chance next year - as it was too late this year.

                      I did go into the greenhouse to sow them, then saw the 2 other trays of armpits and thought they haven't got a chance of fruiting before the winter.....so thought better of it.

                        Would French plum tomatoes grow well in Melbourne mcsee, I could send you a few seeds?

                          Manda - I'm sure I could get them to grow here and yes I'd love some. The Espelette pepper also interests me, did you save any seeds? lol
