  • The expensive price of breakdown cover now....

I'm currently looking for joint Car Breakdown cover for me and T'other half.

We got cheapish cover last year with AA in conjunction with an offer, but now the renewal price for same cover has increased by 60% at least.!!

So I've been looking at price comparison sites and direct to company sites and the quotes i'm getting are massively variable sometimes for the same product but from different sites.

Is this all to do with the petrol price increase...? Or do you think they just make up the prices as they go along..??

We get ours as part of our car insurance with M&S, when you take the cost of it as part of the deal it works out as £70 for solution 4 RAC, which is £128 currently. This was done through martins money recommendations, as two sheds recommends.

We get full AA cover with home-start as part of our bank account. Might be worth checking if your bank offers a similar facility. For Madmax and I it is cheaper to pay the charge for the bank account than to buy all the insurances separately. I think it includes car breakdown and home-start, mobile phone insurance, travel insurance etc. for less than our RAC cover in previous years.

It really is worthwhile reading the small print in your insurance policies, as you never know what you are covered for besides what the policy naturally covers. Our home insurance covers travel, but I was completely unaware of this until we came to renew last week.
