Even prior to that - "Chop 'em or pull 'em?"

I always chop the stalks off so they are level with the bottom of the mushroom - makes them easier to slice/chop.

Make sense?

We cook, have actually never heard of anyone chucking.....but then this is Yorkshire.

I suppose I am extra odd.... I PEEL and pull stalks out, then chop the end bit off the stalks then use it in the cooking.

I have to. My dad always does and I guess it rubbed off. He is always banging on about peeling them so you know it's a mushie and not a toadie... I DO try and tell him they are mostly from Tescos (washes mouth out) but the thought it still there. Sometimes they are a right bugger to peel as well, then I make a small consession to just wash. But not often,

noooo don't go there nooooo! Just use a clean cloth and wipe ...step AWAY from the tap
