9pm is a bit early for under 16's isn't it???- I thought that's about the time they started getting ready for going out????
Plenty of sleep overs then in Redruth...lucky parents!
Sounds like they need some investment in some 'proper' community centre or activities.
It's always the same for kids of that age- nowhere to group en mass- who would want more than about 6 teenages in their homes?? Nowhere to go for non-alcoholic drinks after about 5pm( except for McD's perhaps??)
It's no wonder they gather in parks,shop doorways,street corners and underage in pubs.- of course they are noisy- how else can you show off and be noticed????

combined with a curfew (why aren't under 10s in by 8 anyway, and why are they hanging about on the streets?) i also think parents should be forced to have parenting classes, cos obviously somewhere along the line, they have forgotten their responsibilities as parents.
its odd to me, how you can't get a dog from the dogs home, if they don't consider you suitable, but anyone can have a child,
i also think every child in the country should have parenting classes at school, and have to take one of those crying babies home, it might stop at least some of them having babies when they are still babies themselves.
can you guess i think it's a good idea ...... oh yeah, and send em all up chimneys, to keep piskie happy
and i think they should bring back national service ..... for girls as well as boys, and teach the buggers some respect, and bring back caning in schools, (i'm on a roll) and bring back the stocks, put norty teenagers in them and let everyone throw rotten tomatoes (and rocks) at them.
also let the police shove them in a cell when they've been bad, rather than taking them home to parents who don't actually do anything(and if the prents don't do anything, then lock them up too ........ i'm sure theres loads more i can think of, but i haven't had my first brew yet.
oh yeah, and find something for the damned kids to do.

Parenting classes are an excellent idea, I am sure lots of people have kids purely for the "Free" cash they can get.
Nowadays there is NO discipline, at school they know that the worst they can get is suspended or expelled, no punnishment whatsoever, when I was at school the thought of the cane made most of us behave, nowadays it is "(You have been naughty,,,, naught naughty you)", big deal the kids say and carry on, at home you are not allowed to smack them, or you face being prossecuted for child cruelty, whats wrong with a good old slap ?, never did me any harm.
I am with you 100% on all of your comments, nice to know there is someone else like me

you are no longer allowed to tell kids in schools that they are naughty are you? doesn't it affect their development or something.
my son was slapped if he needed it, i also punched him on the arm once, hard and left a bruise, cos he laughed at me and said it didn't hurt when i'd slapped his leg..... gosh i should be sent to prison for that.
even now at 18 he asks if it's ok to go into manchester, and if it's ok to stay at his friends, or have his friends stop here, and he also tells me where he's going and what time to expect him back, then if he's going to be later he'll text me, though i wish he wouldn't do it at 3am, when he's drunk lol

We have a temporary 'curfew' & dispersal order in force round here at the moment but the curfew only means that under 16s can be taken home by the police if they're out on the streets without adult supervision after 11 at night. It's been brought in because groups of young teenagers have been hanging around getting drunk & getting into fights with others from across the canal & it's due to last for the summer. We've had them before & they do seem to work to some extent. I know kids say they have nothing to do but I'm sure they have just as much if not more to do than I did as a teenager. My O.H. says I was swot though, doing my homework, going to after school clubs & going to the youth club once a week. They still have youth clubs, football, rugby, music clubs, the swimming pool, computer games, giant screen T.V.s, cinemas etc., so why do they want to hang around outside, get drunk & fight?Into every life a little rain must fall.Comment

i have found round here, that there ar no youth clubs, very few after school clubs (unless you are very good at sport, or play chess, the cinema costs more than a 6 pack, and our swimming pool closed for refurb, and hasn't reopened yet.
and regarding staying in, a lot of parents tell their kids to get out from under their feet, i regularly had 6 plus kids round my house of an evening, cos their parents had told them to go out. and there wasn't anywhere for them to go ....... mind you, theses are the same kids that now they are older tell me about their sex lives, and ask me have i got any spare condoms lol (yes i always make sure i have a drawer full.
these are the same kids, who's parents ask them to do stuff and they pull a face, but i ask them and they are only too happy, they know they can talk to me about anything, and i won't go running to their parents, (although if it's bad i will offer to go with them and tell their parents for them)
all it takes to have good kids, is discipline, rules, excercise, food,respect for themselves and others, understanding, guidance,morals and above all love and support (and if that doesn't work a damned good thrashing with a big stick )...... sadly something that a lot of kids are lacking these days
