The Guinness one was quite nice though (although it was hard to spot what exactly the difference was until I'd dipped half a block of cheese in the jar...)

I totally agree Cloud - but I (rather stupidly) bought a jar of Champagne Marmite in February (something to do with lovers!) .....it is deeply unpleasant - it has totally ruined the Marmite...some things are just not meant to be mixed!!

See now Pootle, I bought the Guiness one (cos I love Guiness and I love Marmite ....are we seeing a theme here?) but I couldn't really taste any Guiness.

Well, as Marmite is made in the Midlands (Burton upon Trent), as a waste product of the breweries, I don't think the North/South divide is relevant. You either love or loathe it wherever.

Personally, I love it.

Why do you think there is still loads of it on the shelves my dear?

I got bought two jars for valentines day - Mother-in-law buys me anything with Marmite on it/in it, and LadyWayne bought me some as it was valentines.

I really didn't like it at all.

The Guiness one was a different story. I'm pretty sure the Guiness connection was to do with the yeast used and not a flavour thing. That stuff sold like hot cakes and was really tricky to get hold of here. LadyWayne found it for me in Harvey Nicholls so bought me 8 jars.

I'm now working my way through one of the 600g catering tubs that a lady at work picks up for me from Costco/Macro/Bookers or wherever it is she goes. Who cares, she comes back with Marmite!!

Do I have a case?

When I was little the advertising slogan was 'the growing up spread you never grow out of' but I'm only 5' tall so maybe my Marmite habit has stunted my growth?

Still love the jar of brown sticky loveliness though
