  • Baby Slugs

Right, don't ask me how I discovered this because it's just way too embarrassing, but I've found a method for clearing ground of those tiny baby slugs that live beneath the soil, and that would eventually grow into big, grown up slugs. Get a net bag (one of those that has had oranges in works well) fill it with stones and gravel, bury it, water it, dig it up after a couple of days and it will be full of tiny slugs which you then remove and dispose of. Then just rebury the net elsewhere and repeat the process. It works on my clay soil really well. I think it's because there's not much air to be had in clay and the stones provide a refuge, but it would be interesting to see if it worked on other soil types.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

i found a way of stopping them hatching this morning ..... catch a snail in the middle of laying eggs, when it's finished, scoop up the eggs and chuck em in the fish pond ..... my fish go mad for them, now all i have to do is catch all the other slugs and snails laying eggs and we're all sorted

mind you my kitten eats slugs, as soon as i dig them up or find them under rocks ..... yuk
