| Right, don't ask me how I discovered this because it's just way too embarrassing, but I've found a method for clearing ground of those tiny baby slugs that live beneath the soil, and that would eventually grow into big, grown up slugs. Get a net bag (one of those that has had oranges in works well) fill it with stones and gravel, bury it, water it, dig it up after a couple of days and it will be full of tiny slugs which you then remove and dispose of. Then just rebury the net elsewhere and repeat the process. It works on my clay soil really well. I think it's because there's not much air to be had in clay and the stones provide a refuge, but it would be interesting to see if it worked on other soil types. |
