  • Any TV Leccy Techies out there?

    OK, we're on holiday in our caravan and the blimmin TV's just gone t*ts up - we've got sound but no picture! My DH is a bit of a TV addict (he's now washing up coz he's bored lol!) and he's quite pi**ed off!

    The TV is 7 months old, and this is only the second time we've used it. We can go and get it sorted/replaced tomorrow, but in the meantime, has anyone got any suggestions?

    Aerial = connected
    Power = connected
    Sound = yes
    Picture = no

    It's a 12v/24v portable flat screen thing, and it was working fine until the picture just went off. It was fine yesterday, and last time we used it.

    HELP! He's lost without his 'fix' - bit like me without the internet !

    Is it switched to the right voltage?

    Did the picture go off or when you turned it on it had no picture.

      It has it's own 'dropper' so switches automatically depending on input.

      Just been off for over half an hour, and the same when we switch it back on; sound but no vision!

      DH not too upset now, as he's just found his MP3 player so he's listening to Harry Potter!

        Is there anything on the screen at all? Snowy etc.... is the sound clear or distorted?

          Have you checked the brightness knob isn't fully on 'black'...ditto contrast.

          If you try to tune it, does any data come onto the screen?

            Nope! Naff-all! It was working fine then the pic went off! As it's under warranty we'll exchange it tomorrow, just a PITA as it has taken DH an age to persuade me to get a telly in the 'Van!

            Oh well, I know where the sightseeng is going tomorrow LOL!

                    Are you in a different location to where you last used the TV?

                    Perhaps it needs retuning to the nearest/strongest transmitter?

                    Or try again a little later on - perhaps the transmitter is on lowered output - or even temp offline.

                        Wiggled everything! It was working fine for two evenings, then for over an hour last night, then the picture just went off!

                        We've tried a different power supply, and it appears to be working OK at the moment, so fingers crossed!

                        BTW, we are near Leiston in Suffolk. We're here until Saturday, and enjoying it so far!

                            It does not sound like a power suply problem, I would get ready for another black-out.
                            Is there anything else connected, sky box, video, free view box?
                            If not I would take the TV back to the shop, if you have more black-outs, you have more rights if you do it straight away.
