  • Am i a thief?

visited the local Wyevale today and saw they had Franchi seeds - which was good news. Even though I've got all my seeds for this year I was great to know where these are stocked locally so i can use them next year.

My gf commented that the "Purple longpod Beans" looked interesting and i picked a packet up to have a closer look. Whilst i was holding the packet, i noticed that it had come unstuck at the bottom, and a number of seeds (5 to be exact!) fell into my hand.

I know i should have put them pack, but those 5 seeds ended up in my pocket. And now I do feel a bit guilty, but i can't take them back as they are in a pot!!

Am i truly bad and if so, any suggestions on how i can redeem myself?

I suggest thrashing yourself with some rusty barbed wire whilst eating your nice free beans

Go back and buy the packet? If you really wanted to.

Save seeds and give them away later this year, so someone who has never grown beans before?

Make a coffee, shrug your shoulders and fire off an email to them to improve their packaging?

I think I would have taken the packet to the till, said they were open and you'd give them 10p for them as half the seeds were missing.....they would probably have to throw the packet away if they found it anyway.

I give you permission to have them.

But make sure you do sow them..!

Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.. if you dont grow them, then there might not be enough air for us all by the end of the year........

How would you feel if someone who was in your house having been invited in, picked a book up and £500 fell out of it so they pocketed it - well it fell out didn't it - so no problem.

The simple answer is that you have commited theft. What I find crazy though, is that you then have to tell everyone about it.

I would suggest going back and put the cost of the packet in a charity box at the garden centre. Don't admit what you have done as in theory you could end up with a criminal record.

Next time, don't do it and certainly don't brag about it online.

                      Cheers

While clearly it is theft, it is also quite clearly NOT the height of depravity (and so you have my permission to skip the barbed wire trick ) What's done is done, enjoy the beans, and redeem yourself by making a small charitable donation and/or giving some future business to the garden centre in question. Meanwhile, if the theft made you feel bad, then don't do it again!
Warning: I have a dangerous tendency to act like I know what I'm talking about.
