  • For all my friends

I need to know if your my true friend, will you be by my side until the end?
Can I tell you my secrets and trust them in your heart to keep?
None of us are without our flaws, can you accept mine as I will yours?
I’ll be a shoulder to cry on when you’re blue, will you be there for me when I need you?
No matter how busy I will make time for you, if you are busy will you make time for me too?
I will take your hand and comfort your tears, will you hold me and soothe my fears?
I will give you joy and many warm smiles, can we share that even across many miles?
I will not forget what’s important to you, will you remember what’s important to me too?
With you my most favourite thing I’ll share,
If only I know do you truly care?
If you can accept me as I do you,
then I will know you are a friend most true.

We don’t need to meet to be friends on here and this poem is to my friends, old and new

A very nice poem and how true the words ring out.

Everybody needs at least one true friend, that special unbreakable bond where you can rely on each other 100%

          Thank you Al

Gardening should always be a pleasure and never a chore, only someone forgot to tell the weeds

I'm still getting going on that sort of friendship here, but that is what a FRIEND really is. For an older poem with similar sentiments, and definition of 'friend' see Kipling "The thousandth man" It really is quite rare, and very precious.

That's truly beautiful. It made me think of my very best friend who is on the other side of the country but is always there for me, and I for her.

                          Wow. Lovely.

And it had me in tears. I have a friend who emigrated to Canada three years ago, and that's her to a tee. I still miss her hideously, even though she's in constant e-mail contact, but it's not the same. I could tell her anything and she wouldn't judge me. Friendship like that is rarer than rocking horse pooh.
